The MIND tote, supporting Malala Fund with Christie Tyler
The MIND tote bag was co-designed by Christie Tyler as part of the 7 women, 7 causes not-for-profit collaboration between DeMellier’s founder Mireia Llusia-Lindh and 6 inspiring women who joined their creative forces to create a capsule collection of 7 tote bags, each one supporting a cause that is very close to their hearts.
Christie Tyler is a New York-based photographer and art director and the founder of @nycbambi. A recent Fashion school graduate having worked a full time job alongside her studies, she combines her passion for fashion and interest in sustainability, curating beautiful, well-made and considered pieces fitting her timeless aesthetics.
Christie supports Malala Fund which helps break down the barriers preventing more than 130 million girls around the world from going to school. The organisation, which was founded by Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, is fighting to give all girls the opportunity to learn and lead.
100% of the profits from the sale of the MIND tote are donated to Malala Fund.
I’m Christie Tyler and I live in New York City. I am mostly known as a content creator or fashion influencer. My goal is to be an influencer for good—focusing on how we as fashion consumers can be sustainable and use our voices for good, charitable causes that help the world. I love interior design, books, and food too. Photography is a huge passion of mine and I am so lucky to be able to share that with the world.
I chose the emphasis on Education because I had an awakening about education and how important it is, and how much I took it for granted. Of course when you're little and even as you're a teenager you hate going to school. I begged my parents to let me not go to college. Now I understand how much of a privilege that was. Education is not granted to everyone around the world. I am so lucky to have had an education, because there are millions of girls that do not.
Malala Fund fights for girls' education around the world. Right now more than 130 million girls still do not have access to education because of barriers like poverty, war and discrimination. That needs to change. Again, it was such a privilege for me to have my education, and now I realize how lucky I was. Malala's story is so incredibly sad yet powerful, and a reminder that inequality is a reality for millions of girls around the world. Malala is a voice for those girls. To be able to support her work and help more girls learn... that's why I wanted to be part of this amazing project.
"Malala Fund is working for a world where every girl can learn and lead. We're honoured Christie Tyler selected us to be part of DeMellier's 7 Women, 7 Causes project. The initiative is driving positive change and enabling us to help more girls go to school."

If you know me, you know I am a huge fan of neutrals—so I wanted the bag to reflect that personal love and style while also highlighting the cause. The bag has a beautiful, natural canvas and leather embossed with my word—Mind. My style is always simple but I try to also make it as timeless as possible—this bag, to me, can be an essential to anyone’s wardrobe. And it, of course, advocates for an incredible message and cause.
The MIND tote is produced ethically and sustainably. It is made of black leather sourced from a leading Italian tannery awarded Gold rating by the European Leather Group and ecru canvas, made in Spain of organic cotton. The MIND totes are handcrafted in DeMellier’s trusted family-owned factory in South of Spain following the strictest EU regulations.

To be able to share our passions, advocate for change, and support different missions that we all support in our hearts is wonderful, and a once in a lifetime opportunity.
