Erin Mullaney
Fashion Consultant

A combination of hard work, luck and ambition has got me to where I am today. I am lucky to have always worked in a job that I love and am passionate about so it doesn’t really feel like work.

About Erin

Erin was born in the USA and studied French and Business at Washington & Lee university & La Sorbonne. She started her career as a Management Consultant for Accenture in London and then switched to fashion becoming Head Buyer for Harrods, Selfridges and later Browns. She helped set up Avenue 32 and then became Global Merchandising Director for Tom Ford.

Which DeMellier bags do you treasure?

It is difficult to choose just one of them as I have a few! I love my Manhattan for every day and my Mini Berlin for more special occasions. I also have the Paris which I take with me on weekends away or business trips as it holds everything. I am currently lusting after the colourblock San Francisco and the Athens in tan suede, I can’t decide!

What are your work wardrobe gems?

I am a jeans and t-shirt girl at heart. Mix that with some great blazers in summer and some chunky knitwear in winter and trainers or cool ankle boots and that is pretty much my go-to every day look.

Which beauty product can't you live without?

Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturiser in Bisque is my lifesaver. I am also obsessed with Glossier’s new Boy Brow in Blonde and Charlotte Tilbury’s gold concealer wand.  For skincare, I love Aurelia, my skin has never looked better!

What's your top travel tip?

As my adoptive city, London holds a very special place in my heart. To eat some of my favourites are Natural Kitchen for breakfast in Marylebone, The Ivy Chelsea garden for lunch, particularly in the summer when the garden is open, and for dinner River Café in West London.

To stay you will be spoilt for choice, I love the recently opened Laslett in Notting Hill.

My parents moved back to the States about 7 years ago and retired in Naples, Florida which is such a surreal and perfect little town on the Gulf Coast near the beach, quite a sight to see;  we are lucky to spend our Easters and Christmases there every year and it really feels like our second home now.

What book would you most recommend?

I have always loved modern fiction writers like Brett Easton Ellis, Hunter S Thompson and Irvine Welsh, I have read all of their books many times over. The Rules of Attraction is my favourite.

What's your top exercise tip (if any)?

I was a long distance runner for most of my younger life but as I have gotten older (and my knees have gotten worse) I have started walking with my dog a lot more and doing pilates when I can for strength.

How did you get to where you are today?

A combination of hard work, luck and ambition.  I am lucky to have always worked in a job that I love and am passionate about so it doesn’t really feel like work.

If you didn't do what you do now, what would you be doing?

I always wanted to be an actress. In fact, I got accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at the same time I received the offer from Accenture, I sometimes wonder what that path may have led to…

And finally, tell us something people don't know about you...

Although I have had an amazing career, I am only finally finding my feet and personal happiness at age 41!
